The Sounds of Silent Films-in-Concert: Sherlock Jr

Experience classic Buster Keaton and Laurel and Hardy films like never before – accompanied live by five-piece ensemble The Sounds of Silent.  

The 1924 Buster Keaton classic, Sherlock Jr, is a comedy romance about a mild-mannered projectionist with dreams of becoming a private detective.  

Laurel & Hardy’s Habeus Corpus, a short comedy from 1928, will open the evening. 

Set within the surrounds of the atmospheric Williamstown Town Hall, this unique experience evokes the magic of a time gone by, when many bands performed in Melbourne theatres to accompany silent films.

Sounds of Silent is a five-piece jazz ensemble from Melbourne, featuring Martin Zakharov on saxophone, clarinet and flute; Jim McGuffie on trumpet, Ros Jones on trombone, Rod Wilson on keyboards, and Iliya Zakharov on drums and percussion.
